Citigroup Inc. Posted 2nd Quarter Result: Beats on EPS, Revenue Roughly Inline

Citigroup Inc. reported its Q2 results before the bell today. C posted an earning per share of $1.00 vs the consensus estimates of $0.89. On the revenue side, it produced an income of $18.60 billion, analysts had expected $18.80 billion. Roughly speaking, Citigroup Inc. beats on its EPS and revenue is roughly inline. The earning per share number beats estimate by 11 cents and revenue is just slightly below expectation. Citigroup Inc.’s revenue decreased 10% in the Q2 from $20.60 billion in the same period last year. Compare to last quarter C posted $19.40 billion in revenue. Research In Motion 1st Quarter Result: Misses on Both EPS and Revenue

Research In Motion Limited posted its fiscal 2013 Q1 earning result after market closed today. RIMM posted an EPS (earning per share) of -$0.37 vs the consensus estimates of -$0.07. On the revenue side, it produced revenue of $2.80 billion, consensus is expecting $3.11 billion. Overall, Research In Motion Limited misses on both earning per share and income expectation. The earning per share figure is below analysts estimation by 30 cents and income misses by approximately 10%. It must have been an ugly quarter for RIMM. Research In Motion Limited’s revenue decreased 43% in the first quarter from $4.90 billion in the same period last year. Compare to last quarter RIMM posted $4.20 billion in revenue. The company’s EPS decreased by 128% from $1.33 over the same period last year. EPS last quarter was 0.80 cents.

Bombardier, Inc. 4th Quarter Result: EPS Came Inline with Expectation yet Misses On Revenue

Bombardier, Inc. delivered its 4th quarter earnings before the bell today. BBD.B reported an earning per share of 12 cents which is inline with analysts expectation. On the revenue side, it generated an income of $4.32 billion, short of the $4.74 billion analysts are expecting. To sum it up, Bombardier, Inc.’s EPS figure came inline with estimate while revenue misses expectation by 9%. It seems to be a slow quarter for BBD.B.  The quarter’s net income declined to $214 million, down from $295 million compare to a year earlier.

Bombardier, Inc. also reported its Fiscal Year Ended December 31, 2011.  Revenues totaled $18.3 billion, compared to $17.9 billion last fiscal year. Earnings before financing expense, financing income and income taxes (EBIT) amounted to $1.2 billion, the same as last fiscal year. EBIT margin was 6.6% compared to last fiscal year’s 6.7%. Net income reached $837 million, compared to $775 million last fiscal year. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) reached $0.47, compared to $0.42 last fiscal year.

Toronto-Dominion Bank Reported Strong Q1 2012 Result

Toronto-Dominion Bank reported its first quarter 2012 earnings in pre-market.  For the 3 months quarter ended January 31st, TD reported a net income of $1.48 billion on adjusted earning per share of $1.86.  The street had an average estimate of $1.76 per share for TD.  That’s a EPS beats by 10 cents, reflecting a solid quarter for TD.  The Bank’s EPS increased by 11% from $1.67 in the same period last year. EPS last quarter was $1.69 while earning was $1.56 billion a year earlier.  TD bank also increased its quarter dividend by 4 cents from 68 cents to 72 cents.

“While we knew going into 2012 that our businesses would continue to grow in the face of a challenging environment, their performance has exceeded our expectations,” said Ed Clark, Group President and Chief Executive Officer of TD Bank. “TD’s adjusted quarterly earnings reached a new record, up 9% over the same period last year, with our North American retail businesses leading the way with $1.6 billion in adjusted earnings, also a new record. These results again showcase how our customer-focused strategy enables us to grow during tough times.”

Royal Bank of Canada Q1 2012 Beats Estimate, Increases Dividend

Royal Bank of Canada delivered its result for Q1 2012 ended January 31, 2012 before market opens today. RY posted an earning per share of $1.23 vs street expectation of $1.13.  The bank earned a net income of 1.8 billion for the quarter.  Net income from continuing operations was up $267 million or 17% from last quarter. These strong results were driven by record earnings in Canadian Banking reflecting solid business growth, higher earnings in Capital Markets and continued strength in Insurance and Wealth Management. The dividend increase of $0.03 from $0.54 to $0.57 per quarter or 6% came at a surprise to shareholders.

RBC had reported a beat on estimate two quarters in a row with EPS beats by 10 cents this time. Looks like a satisfying quarter for RY. However, EPS dropped by 6% from $1.31 over the same period last year. EPS last quarter was $1.09. » Read more..

BCE Inc. Q4 Earnings Misses On EPS

BCE Inc. is reporting its Q4 2011 results before the bell today. BCE reported an earning per share of $0.62 vs street expectation of $0.66.  On the revenue side, it generated revenue of $5.17 billion.  The earning per share number falls shy of expectation by 4 cents.  BCE Inc.’s revenue rose 10% in the Q4 from $4.68 billion in the same period last year. The company’s EPS rose by 48% from 0.42 cents in the same period last year.

Bell delivered double-digit revenue and EBITDA growth of 12.6% and 10.3%, respectively, with significant contributions from all Bell growth services, including strong revenue, EBITDA and postpaid subscriber performance at Bell Wireless, significant revenue and EBITDA contribution from Bell Media, and fast subscriber growth in Bell’s new Fibe TV service.

Suncor Energy Inc. Q4 2011 EPS Beats Expectation

Suncor Energy Inc. reports 4th quarter 2011 results after the market closed at 10 P.M. EST today. SU posted net income of $1.43 billion, compared to $1.29 billion from the same quarter last year.  On the per share basis, Suncor reported $0.91 per common share vs the consensus estimates of $0.85.  It is a beat on the street expectations. The earning per share number is above estimate by 0.06 cents. It has been a strong quarter for Suncor, higher oil price during the quarter had definitely helped to generate these record earnings. Apple Q1 2012 Earning Easily Beats Expectation

Apple Inc. delivered its first quarter 2earning result after the bell today. AAPL reported an earning per share of $13.87 vs analysts estimate of $10.08. On the revenue side, it produced revenue of $46.33 billion, analysts had expected $38.85 billion. Roughly speaking, Apple Inc. beats on both earning per share and revenue expectation. The earning per share figure beats consensus estimate by $3.79 and income beats by approximately 19%. It has been a strong quarter for AAPL. Apple Inc.’s revenue rose 73% in the 1st quarter from $26.74 billion in the same period last year.  Gross margin was 44.7 percent compared to 38.5 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 58 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Microsoft 4th Quarter Earning: Narrowly Beats

Microsoft Corporation posted its 4th quarter earning result after market closed today. MSFT reported an earning per share of 0.78 cents vs the consensus estimates of 0.77 cents. On the revenue side, it produced sales of $20.89 billion, analysts had expected $21.02 billion.  These results are roughly in line with expectation. The EPS figure beats consensus estimate by 0.01 cents and revenue is slightly shy of estimate. It seems to be a mixed quarter for MSFT. Microsoft Corporation’s revenue rose 5% in the 4th quarter from $19.95 billion in the same period last year. Compare to last quarter MSFT posted $17.37 billion in revenue. The company’s EPS rose by 1% from 0.77 cents in the same period last year. Intel Corporation Q4 Earning Beats Expectation

Intel Corporation delivered its 4th quarter 2011 results after the bell today. INTC posted sales of $13.90 billion while the street expects $13.72 billion.  The operating income for the quarter is $4.6 billion, with net income of $3.4 billion.  On the per share basis, it produced an earning per share of 0.64 cents vs analysts estimate of 0.61 cents. Roughly speaking, Intel Corporation beats on both earning per share and income expectation. The earning per share figure is above analysts expectation by 0.03 cents and income is barely above estimate. It has been a remarkable quarter for INTC. Intel Corporation’s income increased 21% in the 4th quarter from $11.46 billion in the same period last year. Compare to last quarter INTC posted $14.23 billion in revenue. The company’s EPS rose by 8% from 0.59 cents in the same period last year. EPS last quarter was 0.65 cents.
